Given the increased volatility in the markets today, Cramer believes that investors should concentrate on the following investing themes.

Wall Street’s concerns over the future of Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke appear to have abated. Mad Money host Jim Cramer believes that the markets avoided a 1,000 point decline, because a massive sell-off would have ensued if the Senate refused to confirm Mr. Bernanke’s appointment.

While the crisis seems to have passed, Mr. Cramer believes it’s important to note how quickly Ben Bernanke went from hero to scapegoat. The volatility of the Federal Reserve chairman’s image is a negative for the stock market. Given the increased volatility in the markets today, Cramer believes that investors should concentrate on the following investing themes.

Foreign stocks
Cramer recommends investors increase their allocation in foreign stocks to 25% of their total portfolio, up from his previous 20% recommendation. Cramer became more bearish on the domestic economy after Congress turned on Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. Instead, Cramer advised investors to consider Brazil, Canada, Chile and Australia.

Gold
Gold prices have fallen since China decided to “slow things down”. Cramer believes that the correction in gold prices has nearly run its course and his favorite gold pick is SPDR GoldShares (GLD: 168.50 -0.71%). The Mad Money host proclaimed, “gold must be an integral part of your portfolio.”

Mobile Internet Tsunami
Cramer has been a leading fan of the mobile internet revolution and believes that investors should hop onboard the wave. His favorite mobile internet stock is Apple (AAPL: 476.68 +1.67%) which he says is “at the heart of a revolution in how the world gets its information.” Cramer also feels that Apple stock will be immune to further missteps from Washington.

Counter-terrorism
Since America must maintain a strong stance against its enemies, Cramer feels that counter-terrorism stocks like FLIR Systems (FLIR: 25.50 -1.12%) and ArcSight (ARST: 0.00 N/A) should benefit. It’s also unlikely that President Obama will target these types of companies.

Oil
America is running out of oil resources and we are unlikely to break out dependence on foreign oil for many years. Cramer recommended Schlumberger (SLB: 78.41 -1.37%) as a great energy stock to own given its strong international presence.

The markets were helped by better than expected retail sales which signaled strong back-to-school buying. Mad Money host Jim Cramer has been bullish on back-to-school sales for several weeks now and today’s report seemed to prove him right.

The stock market rally continued again on Tuesday as the Dow Jones Industrial average finished up 56 points to close at 9,683. The markets were helped by better than expected retail sales which signaled strong back-to-school buying. Mad Money host Jim Cramer has been bullish on back-to-school sales for several weeks now and today’s report seemed to prove him right.

Here is a review of the performance of Jim Cramer’s stock picks from Monday’s Mad Money show.

Gold Stocks
Yamana Gold (AUY: 16.62 -1.25%), El Dorado Gold (EGO: 14.06 -2.97%), Agnic-Eagle Mines (AEM: 35.50 -1.77%) and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD: 168.50 -0.71%) also posted impressive gains today after Jim Cramer announced that gold stocks were cheap on the Lightning Round segment of yesterday’s Mad Money show. His favorite gold play remains the SPDR Gold Shares ETF.

Airgas (ARG: 79.73 +1.12%)
Airgas stock jumped 2.6% today after Cramer interviewed CEO Peter McCausland on yesterday’s Mad Money program. Mr. McCausland reported that demand from infrastructure builders is beginning to return. The company is seeing increased demand for its industrial gases. Cramer announced that he liked the management team at Airgas and recommended that investors buy this stock.

Cramer’s Lightning Round stock picks:

Tenet Healthcare (TNH: 210.50 +4.31%) rose 0.6% – “I think the hospitals are in the sweet spot they are the winners under Obama. They are a protected class.”

CenturyTel (CTL: 37.89 +1.07%) jumped 0.8% – Cramer is a big fan of their unbelievably high 8.9% dividend yield.

AMD (AMD: 7.25 +1.68%) jumped 2.8% and Nvidia (NVDA: 16.31 +3.62%) spiked up 2.1% – Cramer was bullish on both stocks with AMD being his preference.

Research in Motion (RIMM: 16.49 -1.32%) jumped 2.1% – Cramer claimed that RIMM has “got the Mojo” and believes the stock will be a winner.

Apple (AAPL: 476.68 +1.67%) inched 0.8% higher – Even at their current 52-week high, Cramer is still a big fan of Apple and thinks there even better than Research in Motion.

Whirlpool (WHR: 70.20 -0.71%) climbed 2.1% – Cramer likes the company’s booming business in Brazil and believes the stock will go even higher.

Dominion Resources (D: 50.20 -0.44%) up 0.8% – Another high yielding (5.3%) dividend stock that Cramer likes and he believes their dividend will remain safe.

Sinovac Biotech (SVA: 2.17 +0.46%) jumped 4.5% – While Cramer usually stays away from Chinese stocks, he was very bullish on this stock.

Emdeon (EM: 0.00 N/A) rose 1.6% – Cramer recommends investors buy this stock and believes it will hit $18.50.

The Dow Jones industrial average kicked back into rally mode on Thursday, jumping 84 points to close at 9,154. Some of the day’s big gainers including Agnico Eagle Mines and XTO Energy, benefited from comments by Jim Cramer on the previous Mad Money show.

On Wednesday’s Mad Money show, Jim Cramer told investors that it’s not a question of whether or not to own gold, but how to own gold. Cramer believes that investors can capture some short-term gains by trading gold, as the metal seems to perform better in the second half of the year. Cramer recommended Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM: 35.50 -1.77%) as his favorite way to play gold sending the stock up 6.9%. The company continues to expand its production and has seen a 9% increase in its stock price since the beginning of the year. AEM stands to benefit from the rising price of gold since they don’t engage in hedging. Cramer continues to be bullish on gold overall with the uncertainty in the economy and the declining value of global currency.

Another stock getting a boost from the “Cramer effect” was XTO Energy (XTO: 0.00 N/A). The stock gained 3.4% after a bullish recommendation from Cramer in the Lightning Round segment of Wednesday’s Mad Money show. Cramer called XTO “the signle best performing natural gas stock in history/”.

Potash (POT: 46.46 +1.02%) jumped 3.0% after Cramer stated that fertilizer is one commodity that is immune to the influence of China. Potash is Cramer’s pick in the fertilizer space despite the falling demand seen in recent quarters. Cramer thinks orders will increase once again as the economy begins to recover and farmers see they can’t cut back on necessities like fertilizer for very long.
