JA Solar Holdings (JASO: 4.53 -1.74%) jumped 8% to close at $3.77 despite bearish comments by Jim Cramer on yesterday’s Mad Money program. Mr. Cramer said, “Listen and listen good. You don’t want any sort of alternative energy, especially with oil heading to $40 a barrel.” Evidently the markets weren’t listening as the solar stock was one of the markets big gainers despite a relatively flat performance in the markets overall.
Fortunately for Baldor Electric (BEZ: 34.70 -1.25%) the “Cramer Effect” was working. The stock jumped 4.8% after Cramer identified BEZ as a company that could benefit from Obama’s cap-and-trade legislation. Wall Street is expecting sales to decline this quarter and so there is an opportunity for an upside surprise if orders continue to increase.
Other Cramer bullish stock pricks:
Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions (MDRX: 20.01 -0.25%) gained 3.3% – “You want a stock with staying power.”
Universal Corp (UVV: 53.82 -1.61%) down 4% – “I think this is a candidate to be acquired. I like this stock.”
